FILM REBATE
Thailand offers film incentives, including rebates, for shooting TV commercials and other productions. The Thailand Film Office under the Department of Tourism provides a cash rebate for qualified productions.
The incentive includes a rebate of up to 15-20% of the qualified production expenses incurred in Thailand, with an additional 5% for productions that promote Thai culture or hire Thai talent.
GENERAL CRITERIA & BENEFITS
BASE REBATE: Up to 15% of qualified production expenses.
ADDITIONAL REBATE FOR THAI CULTURE PROMOTION: 3% if the production promotes Thai culture.
ADDITIONAL REBATE FOR THAI TALENT HIRING: 2% if Thai talent is employed in key positions.
MAXIMUM REBATE: Up to 20% total.
For TV commercials to be eligible for a rebate in Thailand, the minimum spend threshold is as follows:
MINIMUM SPEND REQUIREMENT FOR TV COMMERCIALS
Productions must spend at least 15 million THB (approximately 450,000 USD) on qualified production expenses within Thailand.
This threshold allows TV commercial productions to benefit from the incentives provided by the Thailand Film Office, encouraging more international productions to take advantage of Thailand's resources and locations.
